Warwick School, Twickenham – March 2014
On Saturday March 29th 2014 Warwick School played in both the U15 and U18 schoolboy rugby finals at Twickenham, a quite momentous achievement in itself, to have two teams in both finals of the national schools rugby tournament!
The U15 won a hard fought game 17-0 against QEGS Wakefield, whilst the U18 were comprehensively beaten by reigning champions Dulwich College 53-5.
To have teams in both finals was fantastic for Warwick, which has risen to a school of sporting excellence in recent years, and the supporters came out in their thousands to show their support, with seventeen buses rumoured to have left the school in the morning and many hundreds of alumni coming from London and elsewhere – many sporting the blue and white stripes of their glory years…
As ever, it was a great chance to see old faces, teachers, classmates and reminisce about yesteryear: the old gym, the outside swimming pool, cross country runs in the snow, the red barn at lunchtime and famous lines once uttered by Brian, Del Boy and other school legends that will go down in school history!…
And it was great to see so many young Warwick supporters cheering on alongside the ever-ageing Old Warwickians, parents and staff… Here are a few shots from a great day out!
